The meters are plentiful but the probes are few.
Is there an aftermarket or suitable substitute readily available, or a DIY plan that a non-engineer might be able to fabricate?

I once got a broken 412A from these people. As for a 428, I believe the probe is the same for the A and B versions.

They are still made for the 428D from Applied Physics, but probably cheaper to look for an old 428A/B probe on ebay.
