Does anyone know the difference between the 85RF and the 85RF II? The specs look the same. Other than people selling them, a web search brings up nothing useful.

Not quite the same. The 85RF II has poorer frequency response specs over 200 MHz and a higher input capacitance (9 pF versus 3 pF). The schematic differs; the 85RF II uses two BAT41 Schottky diodes in place of the single germanium diode used in the 85RF. Both also use a single 1N4148 to linearize the response.
