BK Precision Dynascan Sweep Function Generator #3017
« on: March 06, 2021, 03:41:01 pm »
Hi Folks,
I just picked up a BK Precision 3017 Sweep Function Generator for cheap. It works great but it looks like it spent it's life thrown in the back of a pickup truck or down in a coal mine.
Are there aftermarket cases out there someplace for old test equipment. This thing works so well but I have to hide it in a closet until I need it.
While I am on the subject of this Sweep Generator. Why does it appear t be abandoned on the net? BK does a pretty good job with unsupported/old equipment documentation and all the Model numbers around the 3017 are there but not the 3017. I have checked all the Sea Anchor sites and those like them and its the same story.
Does anyone know if the 3017A is close enough to the 3017 for their documentation to be interchangeable?
Thanks
AirScooter

I am not familiar with that unit, but many/most BK Instruments products are rebrands from ITECH, GW Instek, Tonghui, and others.
In this case it looks an awful lot like a GW Instek GFG-8017G or 8019G - so maybe look for documentation for those and compare the internals of what you have.

The GW Instek website seems to only have a page for the GFG-8015G which is a little different.  https://www.gwinstek.com/en-global/products/detail/GFG-8015G

Thank you Keen
Kind of you to reply. I never thought that BK was a rebranded distributor. Know that should make searching a lot easier.

Some of the companies that they rebrand are (or were in the past) subsidiaries of BK - e.g. ITECH.
I think they probably had some original products as well in the early days, but all of the ones I've owned or looked at have been rebranded.
