made this AM Broadcast Band Loop Antenna from an old wooden hula hoop.
, 30 meters of copper wire & a dual 360pf air variable capacitor unit. it improves the AM reception
but the shortwave side of it has no been tested as a feed line is yet to be added.
but may not work as planned. as my research suggests that this type of loop antenna is not the best design for shortwave reception.
the loop is completely held together with wood glue having no metal fasteners used in its upper hoop design.
toothpicks was use as fastenering pegs.
also has a platform for the radio to sit on and pvc tube in its base so it will set on a tripod stand
the 80cm diameter hoop. can sit two meters off the floor if needed.
the indoor Loop Antenna can cut through the noise on the AM Broadcast Band even in city reception.
interstate radio stations can be heard in between local stations.
image had been edited to remove background objects that are not part of the antenna
update-
further fine adjustments to the inductance capacitance
so the tuning range sits with in medium wave & long wave radio band.
adding capacitors
shortwave was disappointing beyond 4MHz.
