Recently purchased some silicone insulated 8AWG stranded wire from eBay.
It was sold with a specification stating "600V maximum voltage".
On arrival, the wire has only "8AWG 200˚C" marked on the insulation.
There are no Harmonisation, Third party approval, voltage or CPR marks.
Turns out it's from China so under no circumstances would I use it for anything like the duty approaching that listed.
Until verified otherwise, I would deem it safe only for ELV usage in my own personal environment.
On contacting the UK seller for a datasheet, I am told "We have no datasheet".
They insist that "This cable meets numerous certifications and has been tested up to the specified ratings to meet these approvals including UL".
So far they are unwilling/unable to supply any UL information: as a minimum for UL "listed" I understand that the drum/reel/packaging should have some labelling at least.
I doubt it meets UKCA or US NEC regulations.
Can anyone comment? (Meanwhile I will flash test it as if I believe it should withstand at least 2.5kV for 600V rated).
