I got a chance to see a set of test leads from IET Labs and thought I would pass the info along. I know there are a lot of opinions on what should be in a kit depending on what type of work you do but I think this kit has fairly wide coverage. The only thing missing are smaller grabbers for electronic work. List price is $94.00 but IET labs will sell them for $75.00 to anyone mentioning the EEV blog. IET webpage
http://www.ietlabs.com/gr874-connectors/testing-lead-set-html.htmlComes in a nice woven nylon (not vinyl) roll up with handle and Velcro closure
5 internal pockets
Leads have quality molding and are very flexible but they are not silicone. They are not marked for voltage rating so I asked IET if they had checked them. They had not but they checked them for the EEV blog audience.
Quote from IET:
"On the TLK-100 Test Leads the alligators, gripper are labeled 1000VDC. We have tested the cables to 1000VDC. Cables were wrapped in aluminum foil and potential applied between foil and center conductor of cable. Measurements were performed with 1865 Plus and measured resistances at 1000V exceeded 10Gohms."
Main probes have 4mm banana jack noses and have snap on guides to prevent shorting adjacent pins. I think the probe tips are intentionally not sharp as they have a very small machined radius on the tip and they are made of plated brass.
1000V CAT III and CE rating on the main probes.
Flexible needle probes rated 30V. Sharp solid steel needle that can be resharpened. There is a spring section under the silicone tubing.
Aligator clamps rated 1000V
Rigid sharp solid steel probes with protector caps rated 1000V
Large flexible nose grippers rated 1000V Grippers are piano wire and need some deburring.
Fork terminals rated 30V
Adapters for non shrouded jacks rated 30V
