Rigol DS1054 Weird Channel 1
« on: April 11, 2024, 02:48:31 pm »
Hello Everyone, attached I have a photo of the inputs for my Rigol DS1054. Every channel but channel 1 seems to be working in order. Channel 1 is very wonky. What would be the best course of action for a repair? Opening up the oscilloscope probing the inputs, or could it be a firmware issue? I will be doing both, but im just wondering if someone before me had this problem and could share a little bit of wisdom.

hello,

See here some small diagram tips
https://www.eevblog.com/files/Rigol-DS1054Z-Schematic-DiffAmp.pdf
https://fr.scribd.com/document/383431220/Rigol-DS1054Z-Schematic-FrontEnd

I think we need to dig there to the input
Basic thing, you did the test to invert the probes and see which are all at *10

Confirm 1054Z.

I don’t know any more

I doubt that could be a firmware problem.

Is it the same for all settings of CH1 Volt/div?  (Adjust input level appropriately)

Check the probes first.  Try exchanging probe from a "good" channel first.
Probes that com with the scope are not very robust.

The rising and falling slopes of the displayed CH1 are different.  I don't think a fault in a passive probe could do that.  There is also delay.  Looks to me like a hardware problem in the scope.

hi,

also look at the ladders
on ch1 the signal seems to make 3v peak to peak
6v for the others

It can definitely be the probe..

It can be channel but also probe.
