My wife got me a Yihua 992DA because she was concerned about me being exposed to solder fumes. It works for a while but the fume capture did not work that well. After a year, a friend used it and overheated the hot air wand. Now, when ever I plug it into a GFI circuit and turn it on, the GFI pops, even with the Hot Air off. If I plug it into a non-GFI outlet, the soldering iron works fine (including the fume suction no worse than before). This makes me think that something in the Hot Air wand is connecting to ground. I am wondering if I should try fixing it, leave it as is and get a separate hot air gun, or replace it completely. If I should replace it, what should I replace it with (budget about $150)? I do need an iron that can solder large wires (putting XT60 connectors onto 10 AWG wire).
