NOAA Weather Radio is deaf.
« on: August 25, 2018, 10:45:02 pm »
This unit is over 10 years old and has worked well to notify us of severe weather here in Central Texas. I noticed a message being displayed "Check Reception". I verified the local weather repeater was working with a separate scanner. I took this apart and didn't see anything unusual, just some white crud around the antenna and power connectors. I cleaned those up with contact cleaner, and it is still deaf. I made sure the correct frequencies and SAME codes were programmed. Key pad button press produces a beep (eliminating a speaker or audio amp issue). Any thing else to check before I spend $$$ for a new one. OH, and why would they remove the chip markings on such a low end unit. I understand the Hi-end ones.
