What Type of Binding Post Is This
« on: January 10, 2024, 02:50:25 am »
In connection with another thread regarding replacing an encoder switch in an adjustable power supply, I also need some replacement binding posts (see attached), but I've looked all over and can't find similar ones (most have male threads).

The plastic external plastic piece is (all measurements in mm): 12 (diameter) and 15 (length). The metal part that goes through the panel is: 8 (diameter) and 10 (length).

As the photos describe, the screw goes through a hole in the PCB (which makes the electrical connection), and into the end of the metal part of the binding post. The metal part goes through the front panel, and then the plastic screws front the front (the terminal color is painted on the front panel, not the plastic binding post).

All the ones I've found online have a long screw. I can rework this into the existing design, but I can't find the correct diameter to fit through the panel (I'd be against drilling, but maybe this is an option).

Does anyone have a good resource for binding posts?

Google finds this spring loaded post
https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/2787592.pdf

one model shows a M3 tapped rear face, tho maybe shorter than your example ?. (the rest are the more common 4mm nuts )
