I'm repairing a counter and it has a flaky ribbon cable connection.
It's (what I believe) a x2 14-pin DIP (two separate 14-pin DIPs) to what I'm calling a 28-pin IDE type female plug (the typical rectangular plug that has a key in the middle and plugs into the main board). I've found ribbon cable with a 14-pin DIP to DIP and 14-pin DIP to just the end of the cable cut.
Due to not finding this configuration, my thought is to buy the 14-pin DIP to cut end, cut the IDE (?) end, and solder all twenty-eight wires together.
Most likely I can buy the plug and and crimp it myself, but believe it takes a press to make the connections tight.
Before taking such an approach, does anyone know whether this configuration exists and/or the name of it so I can find it myself?
