NV3050DV variable attenuator
« on: July 06, 2021, 02:47:50 am »
I have a few NEC "NEOVAT" NV3050DV parts, which I believe are screw-adjust 50 ohm attenuators, in a DIP-like package.
They seem to be very obsolete, with date-code 8514, with no information found by Google.
Does anyone have information on this part?

I measured pin-to-pin resistances to determine that pins 3 and 4 (nearer the adjustment screw) are common (ground), and that pins 1 and 2 (nearer the reference notch) are (interchangeably) input and output for a 50 \$\Omega\$ attenuator.  Measuring attenuation at DC, with a 50 \$\Omega\$ termination, there are approximately 8 turns from CCW (0 dB attenuation) to CW (12 dB attenuation).  I was hoping someone had the manufacturer's ratings for power and frequency range.
Before I retired, younger folk at work told me there was no need to retain data books or sheets since absolutely everything was online.
