Power Design TP325, Digital Meter Installation
« on: July 06, 2021, 02:37:29 pm »
Hello all, I wanted to share a link to a small electrical project I recently completed.
I had purchased an old Power Designs TP325 off Ebay and found that the third channel was not operational. After fixing the power supply itself (a wirewound resistor in the error amplifier startup circuit was failed open), I realized the front panel meter was toast. Rather than buying a new meter I decided to put together my own digital meter, soldered onto protoboards and jammed into place to maintain the wires-everywhere internal aesthetic.

Other than a silly part selection in the 7-segment display I used, I would say the most challenging piece was programming the MSP430 as this was a new experience for me.

I can't seem to get pictures to show up on the forum- you can see them at the top of the writeup if you're interested.
