I am currently faced with the decision to replace the Microchip CAN controller MCP2515 with a Tokmas MCP2515-I, because .... it only costs half as much. For 500 PCBs this is some significant saving.
Does anyone have experience with the Tokmas MCP2515-I and can it be used 1:1 like the Microchip type?
Sure I could purchase a few and try it out, though this would cost me another extra week for shipping. Maybe somebody already knows...

Thanks in advance!

Get a few and test yourself. You don't want to risk your project on the word of some random people, no matter how well-intentioned they may be. Also - some clients are aware about part brands - is yours?
