Thanks for making the video, Buddy. I'm sure others will find it helpful. It was good that you included the calibration procedure so those who haven't done it before can see what it should look like (and how long some of the steps take).

I am not sure how much time I have spent trying to learn more about programming these type of devices. There is tons of YT videos on avr programming but no "real world tester" program videos. I promised myself I would make one if I ever learned how to do it. I learned enough from the $20 LCR ESR thread and a few folks till I was able to do it.

I was about to edit out those long parts but felt it should be shown.

Regarding the m-firmware, attached you can find the ComponentTester.hex and ComponentTester.eep already compiled for the DIY M12864 from Banggood.

If you are using the Usbasp Just use this string:

avrdude -c usbasp -p m328p -F -B 4.0 -e -U flash:w:"ComponentTester.hex":i -U eeprom:w:"ComponentTester.eep":i -U lfuse:w:0xF7:m -U hfuse:w:0xD9:m -U efuse:w:0x04:m

I like the m-firmware and use if often for IR remote test and optocouplers. Thanks madires

As far as the self adjustment procedure, I failed on it. I did not realize at the time but there is another step I missed. So will make another video to correct it.  Was too busy running my mouth and mot paying attention. What you guys were seeing was my first time also.

Great job on the video, Thanks. 

I started programming the Atmel chips on speed controls for R/C brushless motors some years ago when hooking to the board was done with a clip or soldering wires.  Getting the first one done is tough and takes a lot of research.  A lot of knowledgeable people have made the process much easier.  I haven't done it for a couple of years so I'd watch videos like yours to get back on track.

Thank you and keep up the good work.  I am now addicted to watching your repair videos.

Yep, I used to do a bit of old school programming years ago. It was in DOS.
So this was completely new to me. I watched several videos on the subject also and a lot of reading in the $20 tester thread. Then was able to make it happen.

Hi to all, this is my first message and don't know if i'm doing it in the right way.
I just bought the same usbasp of yours and followed the entire guide in order to update the firmware of my transistor tester. I've already made all the connections and tested if there is continuity between the cables, following the scheme, and using the string in the first post, but i always have the sck error. I just have one usbasp and becouse of this i can't update his firmware..
Can you help me please?

Try pulling your reset high with a 10k resistor from pin 1 (reset pin) to positive.
