Damn Epoxy Potting Crap....
« on: August 28, 2012, 01:37:45 am »
Hi:

Trying to do a little reverse engineering on a product, but the electronics are potted in  a solid blob of epoxy.  Bastards. :-/ Given the build quality (or lack thereof) in the rest of the product, I think prevention of RE is the main purpose of the blobbing rather than making it more rugged.

From one lonely post I dug up, I inferred that the approach is to let this thing soak in methyl ethyl ketone for several days and then pick it apart ever so slowly. Will do a Dave-eque teardown when I am done (no video but lots of stills). BTW, on what forum would it be best for me to post such a teardown?

Thanks:
