"The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" Song memories!!!

People think that the song... "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" was by Roberta Flack...
I'm an old 'folkie' guitarist/piano player. I was just playing along with this on YouTube...

But I got to "rememberin!"...  It was 1st written by an acquaintance of mine, 'Ewan MacColl',
nearly 50 years ago, for his THEN wife, 'Peggy Seeger'. (They are long divorced now).
About 15 years ago?, when Peggy Seeger was touring Australia, I set her up on stage with
my best keyboard, and 'jammed' with her, before her Concerts. She played this song at her
concerts as it was originally WRITTEN for her! and people wanted it.  She told me that she
(and Ewan) had eventually SOLD the rights to the song, to Roberta Flack, and received a
mere pittance over the years since then, in royalties...
However, I was proud that she played my piano, and that I had accompanied her on my
guitar. It adds a whole new meaning when I play it now!!

Yes, you are right my friend. Then again, a lot of us don't want/need recognition or remuneration!!
When I was 1st learning 'Music', someone made me never forget part of an old mantra/poem, that...
  May those that soar in the sky,
  Walk back down the mountain...
  And teach those with leadened feet
  To fly!!

Ahh... the proverbial 'Face-Sit' 
As per other replies:  Yes, numerous other people have sung it too. I always had a problem
remembering when a particular song was being sung by Peter, Paul, & Mary... or the Seekers!!

I remember years ago when a 'Singer' would throw to me, with a... "Take it away Glenn", after
no prior discussion about what is being played!!!!!!     Luckily one gets the 'gist' of what is
being played pretty quickly, and the 'key' that it is played in, so adlibbing becomes automatic.

'Music' is a lot like Mathematics. You know the 'formulas' & it just seems to 'happen' !   
Sometimes, I would be at some festival or what ever, and would sit down off camera with 3 or
4 people I've never met before who don't even speak English. (Japan, France, German etc..).
With NO introductions, WE would just MAKE MUSIC! together.... Hard for others to understand.
