As noted, that is not normal.  Mine doesn't look like that, it's completely flush as would be expected.

My Fluke 28II made in the USA in September 2018 does have the same battery compartment curvature.

Battery compartment closed by six Torx screws (T10).

This is a bad multimeter, I prefer  the 87 V over this piece of crap, the battery door can broke in screws zone without real justification
