Forum etiquette and new blogs question
« on: July 06, 2012, 01:22:57 am »
Hey Dave,
question about forum etiquette. Say I do a teardown or a debug session on my blog. I then want to share it with other people here.
I can either start a new thread and link to my blog, or essentially repeat the post here and re-upload files. The first one is obviously easier for me, but this is your forum so I figured I'd ask what you think. Thanks, Igor

Unlike some other forum, sharing your content and linking to your own blog on here is encouraged  :)
I'm not fussed either way, but if it's a lot of text, best to just link to it and not repeat it all I think, but up to you. But don't just post a link, but some info in the post as well so people know what it is etc.
If it's a youtube video then best to embed it (just post the URL and the forum converts it)

Dave.

As well if you link to it from Dave then it would be nice to put a link back in the article to the post in question. There may be the odd person who goes to your site that is not a member here, and it will be good link karma.

And BTW, also unlike some other forums, this one doesn't have the "no follow" tag implemented in links.
So you get the extra SEO benefit offered by this forum.

Dave.

Having the no follow tag enabled stops links to junk using the reputation of the forum to forge its own reputation but then spammers don't last long around here

Can we start a separate thread for a range of different blogs that some of the forum members may have?

There is a page in the Wiki for that.
And most will have it in their signature or forum profile.

Maybe Dave can remove the marque HTML code from the HTML allowed for signatures, as it is Mint's signature that contains this annoying scrolling text.
