Grr. What is eating my newlines in forum posts?
« on: August 07, 2019, 02:10:28 am »
Something is removing newlines from my attempts at posts.  Usually this takes the form of replacing multiple newlines with a single one (which would be vaguely understandable as "preserve vertical screen space), but occasionally newlines are missing entirely, really screwing up formatting.
For example, in this post: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/programming/the-rust-megathread/msg2598726/#msg2598726 , the boldface "string_view" was at the start of a new line.
I've even had this happen inside of code tags :-(
I suppose that this could be either my browser (Firefox 68.0.1), my OS (MacOS 10.13.6 on a Hackintosh), or something in the forum software...  Any ideas?  (This post used to have double-spacing between paragraphs, too...)

If it was Forum software others would be reporting it too. Trying another browser or trying FF in safe mode might help narrow down the cause. Can you pin down when you first noticed this? That might help you recall some other change you might have made. Also check your OS update history. Search for similar issues others are reporting elsewhere.

Line1.

Line 2 four newlines later.

Probably browser based, or your 'device'... (computer/laptop, iPad, smart phone ??)
Much to some peoples disgust!!, I personally insert 'Carriage Returns' between lines.
Unless someone has an old 'computer' with 640x480 resolution, I do NOT want text
such as this, to word-wrap and be broken up !!   ;D
Diagonal of 1x1 square = Root-2. Ok.
Diagonal of 1x1x1 cube = Root-3 !!!  Beautiful !!

"Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default." on or off in Forum Profile -> Look and Layout settings?

Firefox Text Encoding is set to Unicode? (canĀ“t change my setting for some reason, FF 59, Win7)
