Hello together,

i recently bought a Rigol DM3051 bench multimeter. So far i am still having my problems connecting the unit to my PC.
The multimeter is reset to factory settings and came with firmware 03.12.00.03.11.00.
I installed NI-VISA runtime 5.1.1 on my Windows 7 notebook and installed UltraLogger for DM3000 Version 00.01.00.00 and Version 00.03.00.00. Software says that it is connected via USB, but when i press the green arrow (Download and Start Process) the button keeps beeing pushed in for a few seconds and the nothing happens. On the display of the DM3051 "RMT" states that it is connected.
Same problem on my Windows XP notebook.

The button "Time synchronisation" always gives me: "Instrument Time set unsuccessful" - after that the multimeter has timewarped into the year 2050!
Also out of the blue the software crashes with a "datalogger/ acquirization controller error".

Has anybody success in connection his Rigol multimeter to a PC? Is there any other thrid-party softwrae i might use instead?

Try to pester Rigol for software updates (firmware, PC software, whatever they are willing to give you). Good luck with that.

Maybe LabView. But, (A) lots of $$$, and (B) if the meter's firmware is faulty, or the driver doesn't work then LabView won't help.
I delete PMs unread. If you have something to say, say it in public.

Try emailing jason_chonko at rigoltech dot com

He's been very helpful for problems that have come up related to my DS4000.

BTW, I had similar weird problems with the PC software for my scope until I installed it to a non-"C:\Program Files" directory.  The basic problem is that the software tries to save data to its installation directory which can get denied by the OS depending on how you have your security set up.  I fixed the problem by installing the software to my D:\ drive.
