[sold]: Digilent Analog Discovery
« on: March 31, 2015, 05:59:09 pm »
I have a Analog Discovery like the one that was reviewed by dave in EEVBlog #692

http://www.eevblog.com/2014/12/13/eevblog-692-digilent-analog-discovery-review/
http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?NavPath=2,1040,1043&Prod=ANALOG-DISCOVERY

Specs:
2-Channel Oscilloscope
2-Channel Waveform Generator
16-Channel Logic Analyzer
16-Channel Digital Pattern Generator
±5VDC Power Supplies
Spectrum Analyzer
Network Analyzer with Bode, Nichols and Nyquist plots

Hasn't seen alot of use, and that's a shame.  So with the new Edition of AoE coming out I figured bah, should sell it.

Looking for $150 USD - we'll have to work out shipping costs.  Everything is as new, in original box.

I'm located in Toronto - if you're local we can arrange free local pickup.

Got it today, and since I never made use from one of those newly acquired analog scopes I decided to play with it with the Analog Digital Discovery board.

The scope is an old Tektronix 5110 and only can do up to 2MHz, the modules are 2MHz as well and they are the cheapest boards that tek ever made $25 originally back in 1973

So I did hook it up and start playing driving the horizontal and vertical directly from the Analog Discovery.

And using both generators setup like this:

resulted in this:

But I'm just playing around with the FG, that 5110 and those modules are not the best. The FG rise time is a bit slow, forgot to write down the value but it's fine for most of my needs. SDK is easy enough, although no source for the actual library.

I did try the scope part as well and that works great. Have not played with the logic analyzer but I bet it's just fine.

Many thanks! I've been after one of this things for a while but didn't want to pay the full price.

Ordered the BNC adaptor and probes (because you can't never have enough of them) but passed on the hooks because 6 for $14 is a bit too much.

And before someone yells at me, I know it's supposed to look like this (also driven by the analog discovery):

and with a 90 degree phase it should be a circle

But those 5110 modules (5A24N) are noisy, it does give you the gist but not quite a clean signal, but the parasitics or whatever they are, look way cool.

A little more feedback.

Using a Dell Venue 8 Pro with a USB OTG with a powered USB Hub so that the device has enough power otherwise it won't work, can make a nice tablet size scope.

Maybe a 2nd battery with power management some knobs etc and programming could do a nice stand alone scope.

Of course the waveforms software is touch screen friendly and switching between the applications (function gen, scope, etc) is easy.

I'll have to make an enclosure for it but that wouldn't be too hard.
