WTB: NE-83 / 5AH Neon Glow Lamps

I have a few projects that need a couple of higher current neon bulbs. The NE-83 (aka 5AH and 5AH-A) can be used at 10mA for 500 hours and at 5 mA for 5000 hours. These have longer electrodes than a "normal" bulb and the glass envelope is a little over an inch long.

If anyone has a few of this sitting around I would love to buy them.

Well, they also contain 'radioactive additives' as the datasheet says (to allow operation in completely dark environments, e.g. to drive LDR based choppers as used e.g. in the -hp- 419A null meter).  Difficult to find I'm afraid.  Good luck, but keep also an eye on alternative solutions.

   I think these lamps have been discussed in this forum before and IIRC they were used in some of the HP counters. Also IIRC someone came up with a work around to use normal lamps so you might want to do a search of the forum.
