while there are others out there that do the real basics, i would like to see you do some basic videos

There are plenty of YouTubers that make videos for absolute beginners (Afrotechmods O0 and Makezine for example).
I think Dave should keep doing what he is currently doing: reviews, teardowns, and tutorials on advanced stuff.

Those "basics" videos are ridiculously oversimplified. You're doing a disservice to yourself and to everybody who's going to have to untangle your misconceptions by watching them. Go get a book, written by a professional with actual teaching experience, and read it cover to cover more than once. Then watch the advanced videos, and if you don't understand something, Google it or look it up in your book.

I second this. Greatest moments of learning for me have been when i have finally figured out how to do something i tough was difficult to do. There is nothing like jumping in middle of challenging problem.

That's true. I am about to make a project in PIC assembly for the first time next week, then get on to FPGAs. Only with general notions in mind. It's gonna be fun... and confusing.

It's one thing learning some hair brained thing from somerandomguy89 on youtube, it's another to learn it from someone you can trust. It's doesn't take long to see that Dave knows what he's talking about and given the choice I'd rather have Dave show me how to do it. Yes, I would pay a nominal fee for this because the alternative is ugly, painful and probably a total failure and my time is worth something.
