Joule Thief from scratch
« on: July 16, 2015, 03:56:34 pm »

Hi everybody,

Does  the  XL of the coil  interfere with the DC current available from power supply throughout the coil?

Can we consider the 2 coils as being in parallel even if the base coil has a resistor?  It is to say for the same number of turns
the two coils have   1/L1 + 1/L2    Henry?

Does the current to the led come from the power supply, the coil or both of them?

As the current goes in the coils, the flux climbs to 1.9 volt or more and discharge the current in the led when
the transistor goes in saturation. In the first time constant, let's say there is .5 A and the led uses only 50mA,
does the flux 'wait'?

How does reactance effect DC? The winding R may limit the usable voltage and current though.

The R of the wire limit the current but does the reactance limit it too?

I agree, I am overthinking for that circuit but I like to understand what is going on.  Otherwise, I would play with arduino.  :o)
