TC4053BP possible replacement from reputable vendor
« on: August 05, 2024, 01:35:24 pm »
I don't want to order from eBay as the chance of getting fakes is high and I don't want to wait either.
I've seen datasheets between the CD4053 which is a candidate as it's also higher voltage and they seem pretty close.
I don't know if the TC4053 is actually faster because I've seen that it has a switch on time almost half of that the CD has (380 vs 720nS)
Can I replace TC4053 with a CD4053?
Application is not a highspeed design; it's a waveform mixer that select VCO outputs on an analog music synthesizer keyboard (Roland Jupiter 6).

CD4053 and HEF4053 should work. There may be slight difference between manufacturers. If the supply is +-5 V or less one could also use 74HC4053.
If money is not not an issue the max4053 should also work.
For the speed ratings one has to check the conditions / supply voltage.

As this is a pretty low cost part, chances are not that bad to get OK parts even from eBay.

If you are using TC4053 in a DIP package, then you could fit a socket on one unit and buy a selection of CD4053/HEF4053/MAX4053/MC14053BCP and seeing if there is any difference that can be heard.
But if it is just switching some analog signals and it does not have the swap between the inputs every millisecond, I'd suspect any of them would work fine.
