Hey all,

I've been searching all over the internet for different power supply designs and I found one that I really like. Its a relatively simple and quite efficient design but there is just one part I don't get about it. In the top left of my re-creation of the original schematic there is a block that contains a LTC3632 DC-DC synchronous buck converter. I put it there because it was in the original schematic but I don't know why its there and I would love to understand why its there and what purpose it serves to the power supply.

I have linked both the original schematic from Linear Technologies and the Manual that goes along with it and also my re-creation of the schematic.

Manual: http://www.analog.com/media/en/dsp-documentation/evaluation-kit-manuals/DC2132AF.PDF
Original schematic: http://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/eval-board-schematic/DC2132A-1-SCH.PDF
My schematic: https://www.mediafire.com/file/7bvujejet7e4ppu/Altium_Re-Make.pdf/file

Thanks :)

Just fyi, there was a review by forum member here -> Linear Technology DC2132A CV&CC Adj. Bench Power Supply Board

Also BOM cost about sub $50 according to Linear/Analog staff that posted in that thread too.
