SMD shaft pot - Possible?
« on: July 01, 2015, 06:39:26 pm »
Hello,

So I'm essentially looking for a shaft potentiometer but that is surface mount. I don't really want to mount a large TH pot by just soldering the tabs to the board.

Ideally, I would like the low profile of an SMD trimmer but with a shaft. Do they exist? Looking on the suppliers website, doesn't really seem to.

This is what I would ideally want:

I found the trimmer knobs but I want to know if they are compatible so that once stuck to the trimmer, they would make essentially a shaft. I'm not looking for a trimmer tool. The example above probably would not work but you get the idea what I want to achieve.

Here's a list of TME's trimmer knobs.

I have used Bourns before.
Datasheet of what I used below.
Mouser currently carrying 10K and 50K linear.
Where are we going, and why are we in a handbasket?

Yes there are several products from several vendors.
Google image search turns up many candidates if you search for: smd potentiometer
