Help getting started with ModelSim
« on: August 17, 2024, 02:48:15 pm »
Hi. I can't get ModelSim to simulate. It gives me a "# ** Fatal: (vsim-7019) Can't locate a C/C++ compiler for 'DPI Export Compilation'." error.

I'm using ModelSim Lattice FPGA version 2023.3 on Windows. The Verilog code is just from the manual's "Basic Simulation" tutorial, and it compiles fine. There's no DPI in it. I don't even see a place in ModelSim to configure a C/C++ compiler like gcc or Visual C++. The user's manual says I need to "acquire gcc", but how would ModelSim then locate it?

I'd rather it not even be looking for a C compiler, since I'm not using DPI.

How can I get this working?

Thank you.
