Eagle/Diptrace Licensing/Support models
« on: March 18, 2013, 01:04:27 pm »
Hi there everyone
This is a call for current license' owners of both packages, I wanted to compare them in terms of licensing and support.
On the licensing department Diptrace seens to be a bit more clear when talking about it: minor updates are free and mayor updates only cost 25% of the current price... also upgrading the license to higher level only cost the price difference...

In the case of Eagle I couldn't find info about cost of mayor updates or how much will it cost going from let's say Eagle Light to Eagle Standard... there's an upgrade option on the eagle website but since I don't have a license I can't go through the process to see how much will it cost

Wondering if current owners that have upgraded their licenses can give some feedback (both packages)
Regards

Had the same questions about eagle myself recently.   Found info at a reseller site.
Upgrade policy:  pay the difference between what you have and what you want.  cf http://www.eaglecentral.ca/eagle/9-eagle-central/58-eagle-upgrade-policy

Minor updates I guess are free since there are no prices listed for that.

Major upgrade prices are at the above link.

Thanks for the link... according to that reseller upgrading from the previous mayor version (v5) will cost about 33% of the current price... also upgrading from v4 to v6 will cost about 67% of a new license... on the other hand Diptrace is a bit more flexible offering free upgrade to v2 for user that bought v1.5 after August 31, 2008

Well... in terms of upgrade policies they are more or less at same level, although Diptrace seens to be more affordable at the end.

I'm liking both packages so I will give them another try to both of them

Thanks
