ZeroBreeze: The MayiandJay DMCA LOLs

Wow, this clueless fool MayiandJay who reviewed the ZeroBreeze portable airconditioner is destroying his own channel, and it's hilarious to watch.
 

TLDR;

Thunderf00t does a ZeroBreeze BUSTED video, using some of MayiandJays review video clearly under Fair Use.



MayaindJay files a false DMCA claim, and Thunrdef00t responds:



MayiandJay releases a response video were he doesn't apologise, still implies he might be in the right, removed the DMCA claim, and still asks that Tunderf00t remove the video!
And he used his kids (including one that's autistic) as an excuse.
But that video was removed hours later after he got comment bombed for his non-apology and using his kids as a shield.
At this point all his video were getting ratioed to buggery and comment bombed, so he shut off thumbs rating and now moderates comments on all his videos.

Exactly, the lawyers (and fair use) would be the primary winners.

I'd certainly contribute toward the fair use argument, and support EFF, Leonard French, etc.  And I'd buy plenty of popcorn.   

Of course MayiandJay would make a big fuss about how they're being picked on by Thunderf00t and his fans, without getting the point that it is because they've always been the ones in the wrong.

I'm not a fan of Thunderf00t's style & tone, but he does create some debunking & science related videos that are worth watching.

Yes, he's incapable of realising or accepting this.
Since he removed the claim, he's obviously watched Youtube's video about Fair Use and now think he's an expert so now thinks he can win this argument. I greatly doubt he's sought actual legal advice on the matter.

I'm not a fan of Thunderf00t's style & tone, but he does create some debunking & science related videos that are worth watching.

You don't have to be a fan of someone in order to support them and/or their position and/or their fight.
The PragerU vs Youtube lawsuit is a good example, I don't like PragerU in the slightest, but I sure hope they win.
And that's a big problem with today's society, few people don't want to (or are scared to) actually have nuance and discriminate content any more. Like it's no longer possible to like some of a channels video content, yet dislike or even outright abhor other content they make.

Legal advice isn't always correct, no matter how much you pay for it.  Legal systems worldwide are continuous proof of this.

If you post a comment is goes into a moderation cue, he then manually approves or deletes every comment.

Thunderf00t won't be able to resist the bait, so I'm sure we'll get another funny reply video. But you wouldn't pursue him legally unless he DMCA's the video again.

Correct, a US law, and if your server in the US or you are a US company then you have to comply.
If someone outside the US abuses it, not much you can do really.

He just removed comments entirely on a bunch of recent videos that had hundreds of (negative) comments and hundreds of thumbs up for the comments, some even into the thousand thumbs up range.
Guess he couldn't handle the volume

That's true for all but 1% of yootoob vids. Fewer than 1% of talking head vids are useful.

I disagree with Thunderf00t on some things, but one thing I am sure of is he IS a scientist. He works in chemistry and physics. He has written papers that have been peer reviewed. 

One thing I do know, this is going to be a fun week  .

All of this attention in the long run is only going to help his channel grow. Personally I don't agree with him, his tactics, and from the snippet in Thuderfoot's video it's pretty obvious the review was unconsidered.... I'm not going to give him a view or comment on his videos which will only serve to grow his channel.

While I agree with Thunderfoot's position and that it was fair use, sometimes it's better to just let an issue go. Once his video was back up he should have dropped the issue, by all means file a complaint for the abusive take down but it's not serving a purpose to continue the war of YouTube responses.
