   Yes iT REALLy works I have been watching free Tv from the plant zarioide .   
  There women are a little strange having 2 heads and talking to themself.   ( not that much different to here  )
 And the greeny gray tint on the screen I put down to low signal quality .
  Had a little trouble mounting it on the roof as there was this weird shaped craft that kept buzzing around   
   
 The coax is a little thin as well keeps melting when working at  115v @ 100A

Joking apart this type of antenna is not a new idea they actual work very well as reception  and if mounted correctly with a center
poll mounted @ 50ohm to the loop.
They make a nice low power transmission antenna on the 2mtr band  2watt  but getting swr of 1:1 is tricky .
.

other than it's assembled wrong . its only really good for a pigeon stand 

Never Know the pigeons maybe more into dropping a message   ... --- ...

Naa Lighting rod No . lighting likes copper yes.  with a vertical shaft with a ball tip. 
 also the wire is a little on the thin side .  need a 2inch x 1/4 copper strap ..
 I have see lighting hit a radio aerial on a house roof .
   Thin wire acts like a large cheese cutting wire. 
Stay with the pigeon stand its a little safer worse case your get pooped on .  was that..
 and nearly environmental friendly   for the pigeons that is.

Yup maybe but a small motor on the shaft so it rotates slowly..  wind powered. 
 more even cooking.
Of course with a solar mirror as it would not be FREE energy BBQ   
And a bucket underneath full of source of
Your choice finishing touches. 
Eat when ready. .. yummy  .. smoky flavor..
