Benteng 3296 multiturn trimmer - quality?
« on: October 01, 2024, 04:31:02 pm »
Anyone familiar with Benteng 3296 multiturn trimmer? Is it a low quality component? Who is the manufacturer? The wiper seems to be broken or missing. The center terminal is not connected anywhere.

I desoldered it from a cheap LM317 module.

they usually work for me, your one is worth a teardown
Edit: I didn't notice the brand at first. Yeah, that's a totally no name brand and I haven't seen it used in Chinese products.

I have a second one which seems to be OK, but I prefer a genuine Vishay multiturn trimmer.

These fake/clone Bourns multi-turn trimmers are a pain.  Even if they seem to be OK initially, they often have a terrible TC or build quality that can cause malfunctions in wide-temperature environments.

Never had any issues with similar brands, but there are so many brands and who knows who is making what.
And obviously they are nowhere near as good as an original Bourns.

You underpay your workers, and they slack off and forget to insert the wiper. I request a teardown.

Benteng, Bochen, Bonen etc. are low quality Chinese knock-offs of Bourns Trimpots.  You get what you pay for.
