All those fun projects try to make it look like it's "free energy". Well... bad news.

Actually not too far fetched - I remember seeing a video about a self-powering electric swing door.
Alas the technology probably costs way more than the electricity used, so it is rather a proof-of-concept. It does not make sense on a larger scale.

Good idea, let's use the least efficient animal, who wraps their double cheeseburger into dozen layers of paper to generate electricity.
It still amazes people, and it is contrary to popular belief, that a hybrid car will be more environmentally friendly moving people, than two person on two bicycle.

When you ignore the difference in material requirements to build 2 bicycles vs 1 car. ;)
