I think he's trying to say salt water + electricity = hydrogen + oxygen. Hydrogen + oxygen = electricity. But honestly, it's... less than clear. And of course, there are issues with the math despite " The math works out there is surplus hydrogen. "

That's the only stuff that will be released by a Electrolysis process ?
I'm pretty sure that's not true.

The device appears to be based on using some of the output of the generator to perform the electrolysis which will produce the gases to burn to power the turbine to turn the generator .....

 

I'd like to meet the person who pledged the 20 dollars. I think I have a nice art-deco bridge in Brooklyn I can sell him, cheap.

(I wonder if Mr. Ibanez understands that "patent pending" is a legal term with specific meaning in the USA, or that disclosing the invention publicly prior to receiving a patent defeats the patentability already ...)

An average light bulb uses 60 watts per hour.  The average window air conditioner uses 12 KWH. or 12,000 watts per hour.

The inventer and/or any backers who get to attend a demo will probably be killed off by the Chlorine the cell will produce while running on grid power to fill its gas tanks, or by the gas turbine grenading with total containment failure due to hot gaseous HCl corrosion, so no worries about dealing with the backers when the project fails. 

What's more worrying is Mr Ibanez's statement:

I am confident of my skills and knowledge as an electro mechanic having worked in aircraft and weapons systems in the US Navy for 12 years

The Yanks already have somewhat of a reputation for being a bit trigger happy, with a tendency towards blue-on-blue incidents or excessive collateral damage, so the possibility of being overflown by planes carrying safety critical systems and weapons Mr Ibanez has worked on with his limited scientific understanding is worrying.   To retain that warm fuzzy safe feeling, I suggest avoiding being in line of sight of any US navy aviation asset in case the avionics he's maintained decides your cellphone is hostile!

I think that's what he's saying. But, in all honesty he's saying it so poorly, I'm not even positive. I am positive that whatever he is proposing doesn't work.

I think my favorite detail of the whole pitch for this saltwater system is this one:

To avoid shipping cost and to be near the company for service, I would rent land in Illinois near the Great Lakes, which is like an ocean.

I logged into kickstarter to report the project as breaking the community rules and explained in the comment box that this is effectively a perpetual motion machine and that electrolysis of saltwater produces chlorine and sodium hydroxide, in addition to hydrogen.

Yes, I did get a Papilio Duo and was delivered on time.

And currently I'm waiting for the Pine64:

1) Use electricity to split water into 2H2 + O2
2) Burn the results to generate electricity

Actually, there's a lot of legit designs there and a lot of success stories with legit input and output. As with everything, you do get the nutjob or scammer, but where not?
