To be honest I don't see it. The example given for the wine, I bought a pro IR thermometer for $60 and never use it, I know when to get the wine from the cellar and aprox. how long it should rest. Even then, would you wait another half hour before starting dinner when this device tells you the wine is too cold or will you use your hands for 5 minutes to bring the glass up to temperature?

I would rather see another device, a standalone temperature/humidity sensor that through wifi communicates with my phone when the cellar temp/humidity is not in range, now that's someting I want to buy, but then I can build that myself.

I think it's using a TMP006 for the IR sensing.  They say they have an industrial version but it isn't obvious to me which sensor they'd be using for the industrial version.  Any ideas?

Oh, now that's a good idea for my humidor.

Cool, adding it to the end of a long list of projects that I'll complete eventually.

Sounds slightly useful if you wanted to keep history of temperature readings (you'd need a way to add notes or something)
But I see they say they plan to remove the internal battery - AND add a laser pointer.
They aren't going to be able to harvest enough power from the headphone jack to power a laser pointer!
