Magnetic Free Energy Device
« on: January 10, 2015, 04:21:07 am »
So I was browsing Kickstarter like normal when I found this project. It's a "free energy device". Just putting it here for those of you who like to rage at free energy devices! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1790942368/magnetic-free-energy-device-cut-down-on-your-bills?ref=category

Words fail me!

But that's OK, they also fail the project creator.

There are hints that he used a spell checker but that didn't seem to help much.

How bad is it? Not sure but he didn't even figured out to use indigogo with flex funding.

Anyways, I think I became stupider after reading his KS offer, it's worse than reality TV!  :scared:

That makes my head hurt with all the stupid on one page.

Kinda like the water generator doing the rounds a few months back. The bloke spent more time showcasing things like the wheels and gpo's than he did about the thing working. When he finally plugged a vacuum cleaner into it, the ammeter didn't change. There were 2 batteries and an inverter inside and wires going to this mysterious generator that runs of 4 gallons of water for a few days.

Guess it's not banned but I think it should be! Good news is that they are not making any money on this project.

To be fair he is talking about transforming energy from magnetic to electrical not free out of nowhere.
But he probably has a big primary coil hidden somewhere under that table.

I bet his free energy is at main's frequency.

Hold on a MINUTE!!

If it's "FREE" energy, how come we have to pay to finance a kickstarter?????   ;-)

Because it's FREE as everybody can get their KS perks,
not that it comes free of costs and disappointments.

Just the fact, that he already got some people who backed his stupid project tells us:
1. How much people hope for such a device
2. How little the people are educated in this field
3. How little time some people invest, before backing such a lunatic

There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

Hah, I was backing the project with GBP 200 and now I upped my pledge to GBP 5000, just for fun and giggles. So don't worry too much: at most GBP 240 is actually pledged by true believers ;)

Nice, I've been waiting for free energy for years, happy to see it will finally be a reality with this random kickstarter campaign.

I'm going to throw all my savings into this, is seems very credible.

What really P's me off is that they allow this crap, yet this is the reply I got to my real/viable, low cost, low risk product submission (I couldn't be arsed to pursue it any further, I might just knock some up and flog them on Ebay) :-

"Hi Martin,

Thanks for submitting your project to Kickstarter. We review projects to ensure they meet our Project Guidelines (http://www.kickstarter.com/help/guidelines), which define how Kickstarter can be used. As the development of new products can be especially complex for creators and seductive to backers, projects that are developing new hardware or products have additional guidelines which must be met in order to be approved:

Hardware and Product Design guidelines

• Show your work

Projects must be clear about their state of development, and cannot be presented as preorders of finished products. Projects must show details (photos, videos, sketches) of their progress so far, along with a prototype demonstrating the product's current functionality. Projects must explain how the final design is likely to differ from the prototype, and include a production plan (i.e., how you're going to make it) and an estimated timeline.

• No product simulations or photorealistic renderings

Technical drawings, CAD designs, sketches, and other parts of the design process are awesome and encouraged. Photorealistic renderings and simulations that could be mistaken for finished products or real events, however, are not allowed.

• Single servings

Product Design and Hardware projects can only offer one reward per pledge. Offering multiple quantities can imply that rewards are shrink-wrapped and ready to ship when they’re not. With some projects, we'll make exceptions for what we consider sensible sets — things like salt and pepper shakers, notebooks, building blocks, etc.

Please note that our Guidelines for Design projects require information on how and where you will make your project, as well as sharing images and video of your prototype. Can you update your project to reflect this and fall within the guidelines above? In particular we'll need you to update your rewards and show your work that includes:

• A documented, incremental progress from the first spark all the way to the where you are today. Napkin sketches, photographs, handmade prototypes, whiteboard user flow diagrams, these are the things that tell the story of a product conceived, designed, prototyped, and eventually manufactured by creators and their partners. Basically, tell backers your story.

• A functional prototype must be shown. If an adequate demonstration requires video, a video demo must be included in the project description or project video. Still images alone will not suffice. The video helps a lot, but close up product photos are also important - especially behind scenes for the electronics.

• A thorough manufacturing plan must be described. Details should include steps taken in the product development process up to the point of project launch as well as production and fulfillment plans post project success.

Once you've finished updating your project, let me know and I'll have another look!

-Terry"

Why would you do that?  The higher the funding level, the more ignorant people trust the project and contribute to it.  Even though you're going to pull your contribution in the end, the longer it sits there the more people might see it and think it's credible, and contribute their own money.  You could inadvertently lead to this scam actually being funded, people losing their money, and this douchebag running off to the Bahamas, all for giggles?

You should be reporting it, not fake-contributing to it.  Just let it sit at 0 funding and rot...

I did report it, expecting it to be gone in a matter of hours. As Kickstarter didn't seem to eager to shut it down, I upped the stakes rigorously to try and evoke a response from them. (And, to be honest, I liked getting this guy's hopes up for a short time, even though that might encourage him to pursue this nevarious scheme further).

This is the sort of thing we used to mock IndieGoGo for, but now Kickstarter has fallen to the same level?

Not really because KS doesn't allow for flexible funding as far as I know.

Can't you get the equivalent of flexible funding on KS by setting the goal to $1 (or the minimum pledge amount for your currency)?

I've seen this done before and wondered why it isn't used more often. Perhaps the KS screening process rejects this in most cases. Or maybe people haven't clued in on this loophole.

It never ends ... :-DD
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-spintronic-generator

Why is it that every time you hear about one of these crackpot free energy devices Tesla's name gets mentioned ?

They reckon they have already spent 1.2 million on it but I can't see anything that would equate to that value except another one of those crackpot magnet motors connected to some batteries which is hardly worth 100 bucks :D

cheers

Is this not just plain energy harvesting?

I have been reading http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1018&context=archengdiss to see the viability of it.
