Isn't this dangerous?

Correct me if I'm wrong but It uses EL wire which requires high voltage to operate and puts it on your face. Wouldn't any short cause shocks to a very sensitive are ie the eyes and face?

Personally, I wouldn't be worried. Although EL wire does use a moderately high voltage, it would be easy to insulate, provided the glasses were made correctly.

I saw this - I think RGB LEDs and lightguides would be a better way to do it.

It's all fun and games, until someone splashes a drink in your face. I never really experienced that myself, but then again, I'm not one of those douches, who would actually wear a pair of these. You know, the type that desperately crave attention and often pull disturbing pickup lines.

small EL inverters are not likely to put out "dangerous" voltages.  Perhaps "painful", though.
Overall risk is probably quite low compared to other clubbing behaviors... :-(

I think you meant single RGB led for each row but:

Add a way to diffuse the light so humans cannot discriminate separate leds would make it look not so prototype.
Just roll one using only pcb parts µwatch style, none of this 3d printed stuff required.
