Thanks for sharing! Exactly what I was waiting for, lower-cost and still enough features but the most important: It's open source! So there's room for all kind of improvements

I'm not sure it's really open source ... the name "openscope" can mislead you.
it seems the software is open, but the hardware ? couldnt find an answer on the kickstarter page.

Hard to get excited about a 2MHz scope. I mean yeah, it's cheap compared to a "real" DSO but 2 MHz is still a toy. That's not even fast enough to keep up with an Arduino in many cases. Not saying it couldn't have uses, but I wouldn't call it a "scope".

it really depends what you're doing.  It's fine for audio, it's fine for looking at low frequency PWM Arduino stuff, it's fine for picking apart datastreams like i2c

For the money, the Analog Discovery is a nice piece of test equipment.  I'll stand by that statement, and so will many other users here, oh, and it also appears to be the opinion of that Aussie guy who does video (see #692) reviews.

The scope as such is useless for anything beyond educational use, but I'm pretty amazed by the processor. 18Msps onboard an MCU is impressive (obviously there are surely many hoops to jump through to get that performance). Microchip has been pushing overpriced underpowered crap for a long time (at least when it comes to MCUs, their power management and linear products are great IMO)

It's not correct. I don't know Labview, but I have an Analog Discovery (2 in fact). For some things in some situations they are extremely handy. Right tool for the right job. Not many scopes can generate multichannel digital patterns. Not many scopes you can use practically on a plane at 35,000'. Horses for courses.

No, it wasn't correct at all.

I used scopes since the late 70s, and know a lot more than just labview. 

We all know that a thousand dollar keysight/tek/rigol/siglent is going to be a better instrument, but for $79 this digilent represents superb value for money, and is highly portable too.
