Plug-safe the most clueless KS ever...?
« on: August 11, 2015, 10:19:17 pm »
OK I normally don't take any notice of the zero-backers dregs of KS, but this one ticks so many idiot boxes...
And too lame to be a joke.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1622814760/plug-safe-new-standard-electrical-outlet?ref=category_newest

Barely any info on the product
Solving a nonexistent problem, but not explaining how
Complete cluelessness of how the real world works (approvals etc.)
Funding target inadequate by a couple of orders of magnitude.
Ridiculous claim that it's no more expensive than a normal socket

Oh, and there's (briefly) an Arduino in the video for no reason whatsoever.

Nice selection of song though, except it sounds louder than I remembered and they should have kept it instrumental.

I don't see what's especially bad about it compared to others I've browsed. (maybe I've simply too many terrible kickstarters)
the points you list aren't particularly rare

KS has rules..? You wouldn't think so by some of the junk you see lurking amongst the "zeros"

They're clearly not too bothered about the rules of physics, let alone their own....

True, but you don't often get them all in one listing.

Well, if you are upgrading your home with it, you cannot really plug anything into it.

Thats the point. That makes it a lot safer. No worries about defective appliances, or exposed conductors with plugs partially inserted!

That's rather a clever dodge, that they don't speak English very well.
They can always blame it on their deficient language skills.

This is of course a project done for high school graduation.

The KS campaign it's only something for showing they are trying to promote commercially the idea, but this is only to justify their access to EU funds for their region (wich is clearly visible in their website with the footer logo "IL FONDO SOCIALE EUROPEO NEL VENETO").

EDIT: their website it's on a subdomain of facciamounimpresa.it a website that claims "The project involves the participation of a large number of schools in the Veneto Region [...] Professional Institutes and CFP, belonging to the sectors that best meet the need to create, in the near future, a new enterprise for the fabric Craft Veneto."

Look at their website and you will see their school behind the group photo. See how young are these guys...
