Saucy
« on: September 10, 2024, 11:36:28 am »
Need a suggestion for a sauce. It will go over battered fish, kind of baked new potatoes and peas. Obvious choice would be tartar sauce, but I don't think that's acceptable in this instance. Other requirement is to be simple and reasonably quick - something already mixed in a sachet would  be ideal, but open to doing a little work!

This one passed my eyes:

I think I might give it a whirl...

Parsley! That's the one that was hiding from my mind, thanks  :-+

But the bacon one looks worth a try, possibly some other time.

Why not make your own "fancy" tartare?

Time, simplicity.

It's literally the following ingredients mixed together:

•175g mayo
•100g chopped bread and butter pickles
•20g chopped capers
•10g chopped parsley
•30g chopped and rinsed red onion
•40g dijon mustard
•juice of 1/2 small lemon
•1 small clove garlic, minced

5-10 minutes worth of effort.

Yes, and in any other circumstance I would probably go that route. But, as I said, this particular one is intended to be no more effort than shoving something in the oven or microwave and then dishing it up. The alternative is a ready meal or takeaway.

Creamed horseradish and fish is an interesting combo.

(Don't overdo it)

Particularly nice with salmon.

;)
