grain mills?
« on: December 19, 2023, 08:50:37 pm »
does anyone use a grain mill?

From what I understand about seeds, there is probobly a loss of volatile oils during the processing process that can impact the quality of food.

The biggest issue with milling and oils is with very thick oily things, like sesame seeds. The oil tends to turn the ground material into a paste instead of a fine power. I imagine something like sunflower is going to be a problem for storage ground up, as sunflower oil is a mix of very thin and very thick oils. When you use sunflower oil in an oil bottle for frying, the nozzle clogs up really badly with a thick gooey oil, as the volatile oil evaporates.
