Put it this way, Nilu had better get 110% efficiency out of that water heater if that scope isn't going to be totally wasted.
Everyone.... I am at a trade show all day today so will not be able to post til tomorrow. Just wanted to take a second to thank all of the EEVBlog for the support!

Daniel said they were going to take care of you and they did. Hats off to Keysight
Edit - since this is so newsworthy I will start a new post

Congrats, Never guessed they would do that. Their level of Marketing Footprint has been reached.
I'm more interested in making impression video(s) for a Keysight Spectrum Analyser month.... What you say Daniel/Keysight all this time domain give ways is getting boring

?
Great news, Carlos. Very impressed with Keysight. They'll definitely be the first place I look if I need some test equipment.
Wow, congratulations Carlos

Do please give us all an insight into how you actually use it, once you've had a chance to unbox it and have a play. I'm genuinely interested to see what kinds of signals you're probing, what techniques you use to get an accurate measurement, and what results you get from the 6000X.
Congratulations, thats great news Carlos.
Awesome news, congrats Carlos. And hats off to Keysight what a nice thing to do, very generous.

Amazing! Keysight really stepped up to the challange

congratulations Carlos and indeed as someone mentioned, it would be interesting and educational to see what you do with it if you ever get time for a vid
Well done Carlos. I find the popularity contest facebook method of voting, especially on something like this, quite distasteful. But you clearly put a lot of effort into it and have a genuine use case.

Now hopefully (as you lost), Keysight just sell that spare junk 6000X "display model" to your business at a notional disposal cost, because "YOU DIDN'T WIN! NILU DID!"
![Laughing :-DD](https://www.eevblog.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley_laughing.gif)
Therefore it is NOT a prize!

It is a gift. Hope Carlos will explain what happens tax wise. There were lots of discussions on taxes.
Maybe he can start a Patreon quest to raise money for the taxes

It is a gift.
Now, that's interesting. Technically, it's not a prize, because he didn't win it. It is indeed more a gift, given to him by Keysight at good will. How about taxes on gifts, are there any in the US? I've tried to do a google search on it and that seems to be the case. BUT:
Who pays the gift tax?
The donor is generally responsible for paying the gift tax. Under special arrangements the donee may agree to pay the tax instead. Please visit with your tax professional if you are considering this type of arrangement. (from some IRS website)
So, if I understand this correct, Keysight ist responsible to pay the gift tax on the scope, not Carlos? Would be even better than the contest prize, lol...

And what's up with David K. (second place, behind Nilu but ahead of Carlos), will he also get this 6000X "gift", though he got almost 50% of his votes (for some, cough, unknown mysterious reasons) removed?
Play nice, now. Even though the bulk of the ineligible voter profiles was for one entrant in particular, there was actually nothing in the T&Cs about voting services. An oversight on our part, of course. Even though we got a lot of flack for using Facebook, I'm glad we did. We were able to check a lot of profiles and see that there were actually a lot of valid votes and profiles. Or, at least, it was disguised well enough to fool us. Looking at the votes, it was
very clear which profiles were valid and which weren't.
Interestingly enough, the top 3 all had a non-zero number of votes from these profiles.
We learned a lot by running this contest, and we really appreciate all of your feedback and support.
If you hadn't rallied around Carlos (rx8pilot), we wouldn't have given him a scope.
I think Keysight handled this the best way they could, my respect to Keysight and Daniel
You know, when Daniel isn't setting fire to scopes on a BBQ, he's actually a very nice chap! I look forward to the next Keysight competition. It has been good fun all in!

Indeed, and it is to their credit.
