I think something that could also clear this up instantly and save everyone a lot of time is David K (Skedgy Sky) coming forward and telling us what we all already know. He's been watching this thread like a hawk, and it looks like he's not going to win, so he doesn't have anything to lose.

No judgements from us, no hassle from us, no namecalling. I can understand the temptation with a prize like that. David, you could be the much bigger man between the two winning contestants right now and step forward and admit what's going on, and with how much stress and potential suffering that could save people, I don't think the community would hold it against you if you did speak up.

Does anyone else agree? He has my support if he decides to speak up, it would take guts and he has the opportunity to redeem his mistake and do a huge service for the remaining legitimate contestants

By now is commited to whatever he has commited.....
I just don't see him blowing it before a winner is announced.

Is it me - or is Carlos the only one whose voting pattern looks legit?

Welcome to the club.

And here, after my last possible voting, are the numbers right now:

10542 Nilu J.
  9392 David K.
  4962 Carlos A.

I've included the data points captured by ChunkyPastaSauce (which he has most graciously forwarded) which has improved the accuracy of the chart.

An additional note:  The voting page makes reference to the 'day' being reset at midnight MST (Mountain Standard Time) but my observation is that they are following the current time - which is MDT (Mountain Daylight savings Time).  I suspect the voting will also close at 5pm MDT - which is an hour before 5pm MST.

That "votes per day" graph is excellent. To me that says that Nilu has used a better quality voting service (more consistent levels) and is tuning it to respond to David's relatively amateur and inconsistent attacks. Nicely done, Nilu.

David - you should learn from the master and try harder next scope month.

Nilu:    11,110 votes
David:   9,671 votes
Carlos:  5,048 votes

Looks like Nilu as left the vote tap running.

A little observation (between 10:00:00 DST and 10:30:00 DST):

Nilu J.      11066       11113   + 47
David K.     9584        9682   + 98
Carlos A.    5036         5048   + 12

Sprint to the finish? It seems so...

T-Minus 6 Hours:

Leader gap: ~1500
Leader is gaining: ~100/hour
Est finish: ~11,800

David K needs: ~2088
Needed votes/hr: ~350
Total 'voters': 696

Maybe if he goes to the TSA line at a major airport and asked everyone to vote. Possibly 20 top celebs could immediately start blasting social media with desperate pleas for votes.

4 hours indeed followed by an (impatient) waiting period to see what happens.

Yes, I have given up. I'm way behind on a little robot I'm building and competition is tomorrow morning. Can't dedicate any more time to this.

How does one exactly give up? Contact everyone and ask them to stop voting?

It's a vote switch apparently. In my particular part of the universe, humans do not behave as switches.

I tried to get 500 people to join me every day at a local venue to decide if they needed to vote or not that day. Plan failed when no one showed up. If they did show up, my plan was to only have enough of them vote to stay ahead and the rest would be asked not to vote - but should stick around through the night just in case they were needed.

Regardless of the outcome, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for the fantastic support, discussion, and analysis.

Special thanks to ChunkyPastaSauce and Brumby for the data presentations. That was no small effort and provided an enormous amount of insight into the voting.

This was a long two weeks and I think I contacted 90% of all humans I have ever known and asked them to contact 90% of all humans that they have ever known. So many people spent a lot of time sharing and making personal appeals to so many. 5000+ votes is a LOT of people that took the time to vote and support.

I am so grateful. Thank you all.

I was still seeing voting until 7 minutes past the hour - and my next attempt at 10 minutes past returned the 'Voting Closed' message.

The final figures I captured were:

Position  Votes  Name
1
11664
Nilu J.
2
9872
David K.Trails leader by 1792
3
5128

Hi Everyone.  Thanks for your rabid support of this contest and of Scope Month!  We're going to announce winners Wednesday after taking Monday & Tuesday to analyze and weed out votes.  Thank you so much for trusting us and sticking with the voting.  I promise that we will take care of Carlos regardless of the outcome.  Your support of him speaks volumes.

Have a good weekend, I'll be back online Monday!

P.S. I started a new thread for Scope Month feedback that I'll compile and present to the team here.
