No, we don't believe he is buying votes. We've been checking Facebook accounts behind the scenes and some votes/voters have been disqualified. I'm not going to go into details, because ambiguity helps security. 

David K has launched a pretty big social campaign on social media.  Between that and checking voters, we have no reason to believe he's cheating.

Will Keysight hold another contest in the future?  I have an idea where the scope would go to a school and in turn the school would put together electronic kits (of equal value) for other schools.  It would take a long time to put this together and the first step would be to know there will be another contest.  If so I will PM you to see if any rules would be violated with my idea.

I had one person message me on FB gloating how they were making up new FB accounts to vote more. I shook my head and explained that getting me disqualified is not helpful. They stopped after 3 accounts were made - 6 votes. All contestants are at risk of rogue helpers that may do dumb things. Please only vote 3x/day if you are voting for my entry. Do not risk my entry and all the effort from hundreds of people. I am still trying, still pushing.

I don't believe there is a practical way to police it. I have to actually work after spending Sat - Wed full time on this contest I am way behind on work now, one week before I leave for the big trade show of the year. Off to assemble PCB's now.

Please continue to vote  - hopefully the Carlos A entry.

You do realize that there is a disclaimer in the video that states "no oscilloscopes were harmed" in making the video

In my industry - there is a huge watchdog group that monitors oscilloscope safety on sets. They go to great lengths to protect the welfare of scopes used as props in productions. Hats off to them.

If there really was a scene with a scope on a bike - they would show up with 5 identical scopes. Each one would be graded for it's suitability to be the 'hero' scope and get the close-ups if needed. The 'far-away' scopes may be the ones that are slightly different from the 'hero' - maybe one is a 2ch version for example. There would be lots of emails, phone calls, and text messages amongst many people coordinating the scope. When the director sees them for the first time, he will automatically reject the first one. Props know this, so they show the director the wrong scope first so that he/she can reject it (feeding their ego in the process) and the correct scope will be 'chosen' by the director even though it was really chosen for him/her without them knowing.

Sorry, that wasn't clear.  There were some voter accounts that were shut down by Facebook for being spammy, others we looked at were questionable to the point of us DQing them.  It's a bit of a manual process, but we are doing the best we can.

We haven't seen blatant or one-sided cheating, and we won't DQ an entrant unless they are blatantly and clearly cheating.  Instead, we'll not count votes that are from spammy voters.  The criteria is a bit loose for that, but we're allowing for the fact that some people will create an account just to vote for a friend.
