That's really a problem. When you know there are solutions.

We know solutions in America are rather drastic e.g. if you break a leg, they'd rather amputate than set it in a plaster cast

(ok, I'm probably exaggerating :P )

Sadly ressurecting this old thread thead.
Fran's latest video for Patreons mentions her building has been sold and she doesn't know what's going to happen.
Last two times her building was sold she was evicted.
And even if they don't evict her, the lease is up shortly and she suspects the price is going up again. Storage unit rent is up 10% as well.
It's not looking good  :(
Has she talked to the new owner(s) of the building yet? Does she even know them? Talking to them would be a good first step instead of speculating and being negative by default.

I doubt she can raise money through Gofundme etc. Last fundraiser turned out to be a waste of money as far as I can see. Fran's situation didn't get any better in a structural way.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

As indicated several times in this thread, this will be a never-ending story if she is unwilling to accept some brutal actions and relocate the business.
It surprises me that the patrons are still funding this endless monetary pit.
I've lost interest in her videos.

I must admit the same.

No matter how interesting her technical videos might be, I just cannot watch them anymore.  It's like seeing someone burn their fingers on a hot plate again and again, and refusing to change the setup, because they prefer it excatly like it is.  It is uncomfortable and too painful to watch.  Sorry, Fran: you have my compassion, but I just cannot deal with the exact same problem occurring time and again and being avoided rather than solved.

Keep in mind lots of people are kind of sadistic and are actually enjoying other people's misery. Just look at how many TV shows evolve around perpetual personal drama and misery.  >:D

Maybe some of them, but not all of them. After sixty+ years of existence, I still believe that 99.9% of people are fundamentally striving for good.

Sadomasochism cannot be placed on good-evil axis. It's a natural trait in human, some are more sadistic and some more masochistic than others, some are both, some not much either. It's not against "striving for good".

I feel pity for those who did not figure out early it's about a S&M game and genuinely tried to offer their help thinking it would have some effect, wasting a lot of time/effort/money. Then again, maybe their motives were also self-centered, like compensating for something. Otherwise than those who were fooled, it's a game where both parties (in this case content producer and those who "help") get some kind of emotional reward out of it. And exactly because they do, they don't want the game to end.

I have learned to stop trying to meddle with people I know only from online. Some pretty bad experiences. There is a reason why they are in constant need of help. The reason is they don't want their problems to be solved, nor want they solve those themselves.

Mentally/physically very challenged people struggling and needing constant help is one thing, but clearly intelligent and capable people are well able to help themselves if they so wish.

Concentrate on your close ones. It is very likely someone closer to you than some random stranger on the internets needs your help.

You think there isn't enough free drama and misery that people would pay for its creation?

Quite the contrary, I'm sure most supporters are dead serious and they are part of the drama too >:D

Well, in Italy they have the best ice-cream (and other food) while in Finland they have ice and rotted fish.

Ice cream in Italy doesn't hold a candle to my home-made ice-cream using Quebec dairy cream and organic eggs from the regions north of Montreal.  Though, it is expensive as gold, so I only may 2 huge 10 liter batches around twice a year.

This is true. However, it's also true that Finland is not on fire for six months of every year, or then flooding when it isn't. And it's breathtaking beautiful outside of the cities, in a desolate way. There's a reason that Sibelius could compose as he did.

Nope.

Ice, yes.  The rotted fish thing is purely Swedish, "Surströmming".  Nothing to do with Finns.  We Finns eat mämmi on Easter, and salmiakki (sal ammoniac) for the rest of the year.  We even have ice cream flavoured with salmiakki.

The weird fish dish we do have is kalakukko.

Rotten fish is in Sweden! We have the rye stuff which looks like shit.

edit: Other victim of having born in Finland beat me to it.

Try Finnish tar ice cream! -- Yeah, well, it's an acquired taste.  8)

Sounds great. I like the chocolate bars which have it as a filling.

Never tried that. What I do like is black sesame ice-cream. But it is extremely rare to find.

Or the Indonesian Pastel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kue_pastel Nevertheless kalakukko looks like it is well worth trying.

Has she talked to the new owner(s) of the building yet? Does she even know them? Talking to them would be a good first step instead of speculating and being negative by default.

I got the impression that she has tried and didn't find out much. But she seems to suspect that they will raise the rent when the lease is up in a few months, and by the sounds of it, she might not be abe to afford it.
So she might be forced out into a lower rent place.
Basically a triple whammy because her two storage units have just raised rents by 10% as well.

I think she stands a good chance IF, and only if she shows that she is willing to move to a cheaper area and use the money to buy a property. Which was what everyone was telling her to do the first time around.
But sadly that's not going to happen, she has been very clear on that multiple times, so much so that she's had to do multiple videos now explaining why she won't do that.
