Query on Gearbest UK/EU Warehouse.
« on: September 27, 2017, 09:14:50 am »
Think I have been an idiot.
Just ordered a 3d printer off uk.gearbest. Site states that they ship within the UK/EU from a UK warehouse. They even have a registered address in Spain.
However the actual invoice seems to infer shipment from China, and that would probably incur import duty and taxes.
Then I got mail from Gearbest stating that they do not have a UK warehouse or even a uk website. So there is either a language communication problem or worse.

So my question, has anybody here from the EU actually had something delivered from an EU Gearbest warehouse? or have their orders come from China?

Its actually not about the money, more that I want it delivered for a birthday and if it comes from China that is not likely.

Thanks

Tony

Oh well I emailed them to cancel the order and refund via Paypal.

Lets see if that works.

I have bought from their Spanish warehouse and it did work great with no issues regarding customs, which is a major headache in Portugal, because every item pulled to customs will be retained for weeks or even months.

I think they have arranged some dubious way of getting stuff out of the harbour without declaring it. Popular items get stocked, others won't.

Also, they ship to some countries, where the item is put in a new envelope or package and shipped from a EU country. Example: China to Switzerland, repackage, Switzerland to Portugal. The Swiss are not members of the EU, but they have Schengen. This makes control dubious and he'll, the Chinese know how to make use of this...

Gearbest is well known and recommendable.

Vitor

They do have EU warehouse but it is available only for certain goods https://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_631755.html?wid=3 and must be selected when ordering.

Thanks for replies.
I have received a refund via Paypal so only five days time and worry wasted.
What caused my concern is that geabest support actually stated to me.
"For this issue, we are so sorry that there is no UK warehouse on our website."
It was probably a translation issue, I had a lot of trouble understanding their replies.
I did not want to take the risk of it taking ages to arrived and being hit by customs charges.
