Gawd, that'd be more than 30 years ago...
I don't quite remember.
Ignoring the Tandy 50-in-1 kit which was my first electronics kit, my first PCB based project was probably a Talking Electronics kit, the 3 digit frequency counter if memory serves correctly.

My first was a light bulb and a battery.

My first proper circuit, with semiconductors, was an astable multivibrator.

Don't remember my first exactly, but my parents got me one of those
Radio Shack 200-in-1 electronic project kits, so it was probably
"Experiment #1" in that book!

My first "real" project was a Heathkit clock of some sort.  I learned
a ton about soldering and debugging in building that little clock.
I really miss Heathkit.

Hard to remember, but the first one I am pretty sure of was a crystal radio set I got for Christmas... I wasn't able to play with it until the day was almost over.

I stayed up to make it and to my disappointment I could faintly hear one channel. Guess I had high expectations at a young age.

trying to convert a Radio Shack armatron robot arm to computer control (a CoCo 2) back in the early 1980s when I was only 10 (I remember there was a magazine article describing the process).  I never finished it :-(

It was when I was 9 years old, I had my apendix rupture and the infection spread and put me in the hospital for 11 and a half months.  While I was there in bed my aunt  brought me an electronics kit.  It was some no name brand that I had to assemble the breadboard by actually inserting little clips into the backside and assembling the variable capacitor and resistor etc.    On the plus side I learned how everything functioned right away.  The first project I did in it was make an LED light up   The book in that kit was much like the radioshack one that Dave showed on the blog. 

First thing I purchased when I got out of the hospital was an analog multimeter from radioshack XD

Ahh the Funway series. I remember the excitement when book 3 was published - "Every project uses an IC!"
Sadly that series is being runout now.
