SPD is Serial Presence Detect, ok that does make sense now.  The RAM serial number and timing / clock is stored in that.

Ok so looks like this is for people who want to rebrand and/or take cheap memory and increase the specs on it. Hmm...

I adjusted the image, did an OCR on it with Google docs, and passed it to Google translate.... the results are probably not that useful :-)
