What do you WANT to buy?
« on: September 22, 2024, 03:41:27 am »
An inverse of the "what did you buy" thread...

For me, I want to buy a USB cable for a Canon Selphy C1000 photo printer I bought months ago (stupid for Canon to not include it), but the trouble is I don't know what connector type is required (and if anybody can help with that, I'd much appreciate it).

I've also been wanting to buy something that checks the charge of batteries (one that can hold AA and AAA preferably, as I have a mixture of these in a drawer). Been trying to scout for that for months on Amazon but no luck...

So, what about you? :)

I want to buy a board based on the Sophon SG2380 SoC, which should leapfrog the Arm A76 based boards such as the Raspberry Pi 5 and RK3588 boards such as Rock 5 and Orange Pi 5.

Hopefully H1 2025...

I want to buy Valencia home theater seating.
But for what i want (3 seater with love seat) it costs like $12000 NZD and that just seems crazy for some seating. I could get a nice low-km's 2ndhand car for that.
But I do really want to buy it. Would be awesome to have somewhere nice to sit watching the projector with a cup holder and proper electric seat controls.

Already did almost that, and it is great.  :-DD

The nearest house is ~200 meters away, but can't be seen due to a bit of a hill in between.

On topic though, a 3D printer is kind of on my list.

I don't own it, but where I've been living the last 2 2/3 years there are zero houses in line of sight. To the north I can see 4 km, increasing to generally 6 km to the east, but some features 10 km, and to the south 1.5 km, all across rolling green farmland. There is a house 225m to the NW at my road entrance and one 520m SW, but both are on the other side of hills.

Starlink was the only viable internet here. I ordered it before I signed the lease, and it arrived from California before I moved in.

A new GPU with plenty of VRAM that's not insanely overpriced.

Nah, don't like lentils and fish.

Got one over a year ago.

full time retirement.

Yes that is the best. Al ready doing that for 12 years.  8)

Both brucehoult and tautech win on the view department, except for that ugly green blob near brucehoult.  :-DD

My view is limited due to the surrounding hills and forests. We do have lovely cows that provide theatre at times.

I can see that some things on people's wishlist aren't all technical stuff so, here's mine to match...

I'd like to buy chicken salt, just because of this thread 😂 (and plus the fact that I'd like my mother's home-made chips taste a wee bit better as well)

Bit of a weird one, but the wall thermostat on our wall is ugly, and I changed all the light switches and sockets to be a nicer chrome polished look, but cannot for the life of me find a simple analog thermostat that is silver instead of white.

The heating system is normally controlled by a Wiser Zigbee system, so it's only useful as a backup if that goes wrong for whatever reason.

...

ANENG BT168 Pro

The non-Pro one has an analog dial and is only good for 1.5V batteries.

Might also be worth it to resist temptation and buy only one.

Might have a look at the BT-168 one... although I was wondering if there's something at Amazon as I usually shop there.

Would have thought chrome paint will peel off if not done perfectly, I was just surprised that of the analog thermostats I could find, all were boring white things.  So I just wanted to buy one of those instead of DIY.

I found an alternative digital product with a chrome finish that will probably look OK on the wall, so going with that.
